The Nottingham branch of the Latvian Welfare Fund gained access to a property in 1967, first of all renting and then buying it outright in 1977 for £7000. All Nottingham Latvian social activity centred round this property: the mixed choir, the drama group, the folk dance group, a song ensemble and the weekend mother-tongue school. One of the occupants from 1963 was the Latvian book club, and the well-known writer, in Latvian circles, Gunārs Janovskis, acted as chairman of this club. The house was sold in 2017.
