Corby Latvian Lutheran Church Hall

Built in 1958, a one storey brick building was acquired by the East of England Latvian Lutheran congregation for £9600. The funds came from donations, a grant from the World Federation of Lutherans, and loans. Originally the building served only for church services and church functions, but since a new church building was established by the English congregation where the Latvian congregation also held its services, the old building was repurposed for Latvian social activities, containing a hall for 400 people with a stage, where theatre performances, concerts, national commemorative occasions and exhibitions took place, and a library. The weekend mother-tongue school used the premises as well as the folkdance group and choir for rehearsals. The building was sold in 2005.
